Podcasts

Each academic year pupils in Dosbarth Oak have the opportunity to apply for the role of our Podcast Presenters, they will try and convince their peers through a presentation and a small group will be appointed. Mr Phillips will then work with the podcasters to develop their skills, utilising Voice 21 strategies. Our presenters will take growing ownership of the podcast throughout the year and will bring their own ideas for ways to develop and improve it. Our typical monthly podcast includes:

- Sharing the learning that has taken place in classes.

- Sharing our attendance and House Dojo Champions.

- Delivering a sports review, which includes our school sports teams as well as what major sporting events are taking place elsewhere.

- A weather report.

- A popular 'did you know?' section with weird and wonderful facts.

- A joke of the month.

- Staff Star of the Month, chosen by the pupils.

- An interview with a special guest. Past guests have included local members of the community such Paul Jones from BetterBuys, Mr Brittain (Head of Primary Achievement at CSC), Mr Maddy from Mountain Ash Comprehensive school, and members of the local Knit and Natter group, along with many many more.

- Interviews with members of the School Senedd, such as our House Captains, Criw Iaith members, School Sports Ambassadors, Digital Leaders and Super Ambassadors.

- Our podcast presenters are encouraged to set a good example with their oracy skills, add their own style and personality and ideas to enhance and improve the podcast.

- Our podcast has been highly praised in our recent ESTYN Inspection and is referenced in our ESTYN report.

- The podcast is shared with pupils in classes, parents and Governors via the School App, and the wider community via social media.

Our podcast is used as an evidence tool, supporting us with monitoring, assessing and evaluating Oracy skills in our pupils. We are able to identify their skills in line with the Oracy Framework (shown below):
