Our learning this term- Our topic this term is - With our hands

This half term our topic will be With My Hands. Children will explore all the different ways we use our hands for creativity, discovery, and problem-solving.

Through expressive arts, we will use our hands for singing, music-making, and creative play. Linking to the story The Colour Monster, children will take part in a colour-changing science experiment, helping them connect colours with different feelings.

We will explore the season of Autumn, using our hands to collect and investigate natural objects.

Children will look closely at their own fingerprints, making prints and comparing patterns to notice similarities and differences. They will also explore textures through feely bags and texture walks, using descriptive language to share their discoveries.

Technology will be introduced through Bee-Bots and tablets, giving children the chance to practise tapping, pressing, and swiping to control devices. Finally, we will use our hands to explore light and shadows, experimenting with how our hands can create shapes and patterns when they block the light.

This topic will encourage children to see their hands as powerful tools for learning, expression, and exploration.
