Mrs Kelly

Penrhiwceibr Primary School

Family Engagement Officer

Mrs Kelly is our school Family Engagement Officer. Many of you will know Mrs Kelly from her role as Nursery TA in Acorn class.

This new role will help support pupils and families with many issues. Our aim is to work in partnership with families, parents, carers and pupils in a school context helping to improve behaviour and attendance and to overcome the barriers to learning so that parents can increase their involvement in their children’s education both at school and at home.

Mrs Kelly will be available to assist families in getting the support you need with the ever-increasing challenges you face; issues like childcare, employment, benefits, access to foodbanks, clothing grants, referrals to outside agencies, even support completing applications etc.   If you have an educational issue regarding your children and teachers are not available you can speak confidentially with Mrs Kelly who will liaise with teachers to come to a happy resolution.

Every Friday morning between 9:05 and 10:30, Foundation Phase parents can join Mrs Kelly at 'Coffee with Kelly' in the Foundation hall. It is a great opportunity to engage with school over a cuppa.  We will be asking various guest speakers along to Coffee with Kelly throughout the term. Our aim is also to provide families with the opportunity to attend parenting classes and adult learning sessions.

Mrs Kelly is visible on the Nursery gate most mornings and can also be contacted by telephone through the school reception. Alternatively, you can contact via email at bernie.kelly@penrhiwceibrprimary.rctcbc.cymru.

Family Engagement

We are all feeling the increasing financial pressure on our families at the moment so we are working hard to develop different ways to support our school community.

We have set up a Free School Uniform Exchange which has a selection of pre-loved school uniform available free of charge.

We now have a Supply Store to supplement families food shopping and sanitary needs. We are asking for donations from shops and our school community for items which families can collect from us to help alleviate the current financial burden.

Please donate if you can; cereals, jars and tinned food, tea, coffee, sugar, squash, long-life milk, toothpaste, soap, deodorants, shampoo, toilet paper, washing powder, cleaning products etc. For all queries see our Family Engagement Officer, Mrs Kelly.

Family Engagement events 2023-24

We continue to increase our Family Engagement events as we look to strengthen our schools community focus.

Parent Pupil Sessions, Autumn 2

Parent Pupil Sessions for 'Enterprise Week'

Parents were invited to come along and join their children in a class Christmas craft session. Parents also got the opportunity to view the art gallery displaying the recent canvas paintings produced by the children in the 'Paint along Lady' event, they were fantastic!!!

Parent Pupil Sessions, Autumn 1

Parents are given the opportunity to attend 'Parent Pupil Sessions' each half term. These sessions give parents the opportunity of seeing their children within their learning environment and to actively participate with their children's learning.  These PP sessions strengthen the teacher- parent-pupil relationship whilst creating opportunity to discuss and celebrate pupil success.
