Dear Parents,
I wish to inform you that we will be saying goodbye to several staff members at the end of this term.
You will all be very familiar with Mrs Paula Griffiths who has been an incredible figure of stability at Penrhiwceibr Primary School in various forms for the last 30 years. We all thank her for her long service to our school and the positive impact on the wellbeing and learning of many, many pupils. Mrs Griffiths has decided to take early retirement and will leave us at the end of term, we wish her a very healthy and very happy retirement.
Additionally, Mrs Claire Evans after almost 16 years at our school has bravely decided it is time for a new adventure and has chosen to finish with her Year 6 leavers this summer. Claire has filled several important roles in our school, working incredibly hard supporting many pupils in her time here. We thank Claire and wish her the best of luck as she steps into a new career.
Mrs Gemma Thomas’s time with us will also come to an end this summer. Mrs Thomas has been with us for the last 15 months covering two periods of teacher maternity leave which included an Estyn Inspection in Dosbarth Laurel. We thank Mrs Thomas for her hard work and dedication and hope to see her back at Penrhiwceibr someday soon.
You will be aware that the school Learning Support Class is relocating to Abercynon Primary in September. So sadly, we say goodbye to Dosbarth Chestnut, its pupils and staff who we wish every success in the future. The staff who will be relocating with the class will be Mrs Carys Doherty, Mrs Claire Davies and Mrs Janine Allen. The loss of this class will be felt right across our school community but at Abercynon the pupils will enjoy the 21st century school provision they deserve with their own outdoor learning facilities.
We are taking a collection amongst staff and governors for leaving gifts to thank these staff for their service, contribution and hard work at our fantastic school. If you wish to make your own donation to this collection you can do so at the school office.
Kind regards,
Mr Vaughan
Headteacher
