Our enquiry this term is called

'Who are we and where do we belong?'

What are we learning about?

This term, our enquiry will focus on the big question: Who are we and where do we belong? Through a range of engaging, hands-on experiences, the children will explore the meaning of belonging and develop an understanding of what makes them unique and special. We will learn about ourselves, our families, our friendships and the different groups and communities we are part of.

Together, we will explore our local community, discovering the special places that are important to us and the people who help to make our community a safe, welcoming and happy place. We will learn about the roles of different community helpers and how they support and care for others.

Through stories, discussions, creative activities, exploration and shared experiences, the children will have opportunities to share their own experiences, celebrate similarities and differences, and develop a sense of identity, connection and belonging. We hope this enquiry will help every child recognise that they are valued members of their families, school and wider community.

This term, we will be focusing on developing the children’s understanding of number in Maths. We will be exploring number recognition and formation, addition, subtraction and doubling, while building confidence and developing a strong understanding of number through practical, hands-on activities.

In Literacy, our focus book is People Need People, which links beautifully to our enquiry, “Who Are We and Where Do We Belong?” Through this story, we will explore the importance of relationships, connections and the people around us. The children will have opportunities to develop their writing skills through two genres: instructional writing and recount writing. We will be learning how to write clear instructions and creating recounts of our exciting visit to the local library.

We have lots of lovely learning experiences planned for the children this term, with plenty of opportunities to explore, create, discover and develop new skills.

We are looking forward to a wonderful term filled with exciting learning, new experiences and special moments together!
